Chelsea Rose Royal Doulton China 62 Piece Set $900

Place Setting

Plate

Platters, Bowls, Creamer and Sugar Bowl

I have a lovely old set of Royal Doulton china for sale that
originally belonged to my grandmother. It is Royal Doulton The Chelsea Rose
pattern H4801 china, ca. 1920-1930 and some ca. 1940 to 1967. It is fine bone
china made in England.
This pattern has a scalloped rim, a pale gray floral scroll ring, and a
multicolored floral center. 8 place settings. This set of 62 pieces consists of:
8 dinner plates, 8 luncheon plates, 8 salad plates, 8 bread and butter plates, 7
fruit/dessert bowls, 8 cups (pointed – there is a point on the handle which is
worth more than the style with just a round handle), 8 saucers, 1 16” platter, 1
round covered vegetable bowl, 1 gravy boat with attached underplate, 1 8oz.
creamer, 1 sugar bowl with lid, 1 10” oval serving bowl and 1 10” round serving
bowl.
Many pieces bear the green Royal Doulton logo, are ink stamped "The Chelsea
Rose", and have a hand painted pattern number. Other pieces appear to be newer
and have the newer Royal Doulton gray backstamp.
All pieces are in excellent condition. There are no cracks or chips or crazing
except one cup has a small chip.
After a good deal of searching, I can confidently say that there isn’t a set
like this for sale on the web anywhere. Prices from one place to another selling
pieces and smaller sets are fairly consistent. I used this page
http://www.replacements.com/webquote/RD_CHROSE.htm?s1=gbase&3643569& for
pricing. Their prices are either slightly lower or are the prices that everyone
else seems to use. This china is a good weight and sturdy. It can actually be
used without a lot of worry. It has nice colors and enough different colors that
it can fit into many decors and be paired with a variety of tablecloths and so
on.
I priced each piece of this set on the above web page (which also has photos).
It comes to a total of $1240.42. That figure doesn’t include the price of the
chipped cup at all even though that cup does actually have worth. My price is
$340 less than the prices of all the folks selling this lovely china on the web.

encouragement and donations are always welcome.
